Program Assistant (Temporary – Leave Coverage)
HANAC, Inc. – originally founded by George Douris as the Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee – is a New York City–based multi-faceted social services organization. Since 1972, HANAC has provided vital services to vulnerable populations throughout New York City.
HANAC is seeking a Temporary Program Assistant to support program operations during an employee leave of absence. This position will assist with administrative and fiscal functions of the program and may substitute for the Program Director when necessary.
This is a temporary assignment expected to last approximately 2–3 months, or until the employee on leave returns, whichever occurs first. The assignment may be extended based on program needs.
Rate of Pay: $23.00 per hour
Work Schedule:
Monday – Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Thursday – Friday: 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintain the petty cash system and related documentation
Perform DFTA unit data entry and reporting
Assist with case assistance program unit goals
Maintain financial ledgers including cash receipts and disbursements
Prepare monthly fiscal reports and submit to the Fiscal Department
Maintain accurate program filing systems and records
Provide general administrative support including light typing and telephone coverage
Assist the Program Director with operational and administrative tasks
Substitute for the Program Director when necessary
Assist with maintaining food inventory records
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma required
At least two years of bookkeeping coursework or one year of experience as a full-charge bookkeeper
Administrative or supervisory support experience preferred
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and spreadsheets
