Program Assistant
HANAC, Inc. – originally founded by George Douris as the Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee – is a New York City-based multi-faceted social services organization. The organization was founded in 1972 to serve the needs of vulnerable populations throughout New York City.
The Program Assistant will assist, and when needed substitute for, the Program Director in program operations; and, under the general supervision of HANAC's Controller responsible for maintaining all program financial operations.
Rate of Pay: $23.00
Work schedule: Monday – Wednesday 8 am-2:30 pm, and Thursday and Friday 8:30 am-1:30 pm
Location: 13-28 123rd St, College Point, NY 11356
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for petty cash system
- DFTA units data entry
- Supports in case assistance program unit goal
- Maintain ledgers including cash receipts and cash disbursements
- Prepare monthly fiscal report, submit to Fiscal Department
- Filing and related work
- Light typing and telephone
- All other bookkeeping, recordkeeping, and reporting as required
- Assist the Director as necessary
- Substitute for Program Director in the absence
- Assist in maintaining food inventory records
- Other duties may be requested.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate with at least 2 years of bookkeeping courses or one year experience as full charge bookkeeper.
- Must have some administrative /supervisory experience. Computer savvy, word, and spreadsheets.
